Exclamation Vibration when Braking

Hello all,

I recently purchased a used 2006 Ford F-150 (5.4l RWD). I was fully aware of a problem with the brake rotors when I bought the truck from a dealership. They supposedly changed the rotors and the rotors appear to be new...But every time I brake the truck almost flutters in the front end. I haven't noticed vibration while on the highway, only when braking. I am worried because I can fix it I just cant seem to figure out what the problem is. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

I also wanted to know of any common issues with this truck...let me know what you've experienced and what you did to fix it.

Look for bad caliper/rust/sticky slides and check for rotor runout/wobble. The life of the truck really comes down to how it is driven and maintained.

I am not sure what a sticky slide is.

I will definitely look for bad calipers and rust. the rumble only happens when braking. Could the rear brakes or the e-brake have anything to do with this?

I am also un-sure about a rotor runout/wobble.
can you kind of explain what these are and how to check them?

thank you for replying. this isn't my first f-150 but it is the first time I experienced this problem.

I had a similar problem and was surprised to learn that it was a chunk of mud stuck up on the back side of the brake. I would of thought this would cause a highway vibration but it only happened when I was braking. Cleaned it off and I was good. Currently the vibration I have when braking is because my rotors need to be replaced soon. They have been resurfaced once but with the reports of so many people having them resurfaced twice and then warping I figured its just time to replace them.

Sometimes the caliper rubbers get cut and dirt gets into the bores of the pistons not allowing them to slide freely. You have to take the calliper off and inspect its working seals and parts. If cut. it's bad and causing the rub-rub brake motion with theb rotor.
