possible engine swap

Hello all again, we are in the process of figuring out what went wrong right before I lost all power with the motor. In the process of just changing the exhaust manifold gasket and passenger side valve cover gasket, we found 3 to 4 bent valves. Seeing that I pulled the driver side cover and 3 more were bent and 2 had broke and went into the engine itself. Dont know whether or not the motor is good in worst case scenario ill be getting another motor. The truck supposed to be either a 360/390 with a c6 tranny, so if i did a swap what motors would match up to the c6. If i absolutely have to ill go down to a small block I just didnt want to pull the transmission but if push comes to shove, I will.

The only engines that would fit your existing transmission is another FE; 352, 360, 390, 406, 410 or 428.
