My new contraption

Yesterday I picked up a 78 F250 2wd Supercab that has a flareside bed on it. 400m with automatic. I did some research and can not seem to find any similar setups. I think I have a one off. Tonight when I get home I will snap some pictures and start collecting tag/id info from all the various parts.

Am I correct that my combination can not be factory?

I'll see if I can find more info but I'm pretty sure the Supercabs only came with the styleside bed.
On the warranty plate (VIN tag) on the drivers door look at the "BODY" code, the last digit will probably be "4" that's for styleside bed.
If your plate is obscured or faded, the top line is the VIN, on the second line the "BODY" code is the fourth group of digits.

Well, I can't post attachments yet but I was able to snap a picture of the door plate and everything jives...but the body code..it clearly shows FBM.

Here is the complete breakdown

X25SKCA4045

139 8M X254 FBM G 37A

06300 1978 52

Not sure what to do with that.

I have lots of pictures just waiting for the ability to post them.

Let me know if this works. Once I get the ability to put pictures here I will move them, but for now they reside here.

Love the color combo. Is it the factory paint code? The fenders look like they are from the 80's. I too have never seen a supercab with a stepside from the 70's. I had a 92 extended cab flairside F150. Still wish I had that one. Cool truck, I would find some 70's fenders to swap on to the stepside box. Just my opinion.

That's an '80s bed, but it does look good on there. Supercabs only came with styleside beds, no flares.

Looks great. I love that color, and the 80's bed doesn't look to bad either

FBM: FB = Blue all Vinyl (Ranger XLT) / M = Super Cab.

G = C6 Cruise-O-Matic.

Super Cabs were available as a Styleside Pickup or as a Cab & Chassis.

Thanks for all the info. It seems that I got a pretty decent vehicle on my hands once again. There is a story behind it as well. I started with a 1972 F100 stepside that I rebuilt completely to look like a 69 stepside. I have posted pictures of it on the fordification.com site. I then changed jobs and needed a gas saver. I had to trade her for a 2004 Vulcan Drifter. Loved that motorcycle but with 7 kids it wasn't safe, not from my doing but from other dummies on the road. I traded it for this truck and the picnic table and bench in the back. My first truck was a 1968 Ford F100 long bed and I keep coming full circle back to ford. It is a sign. This truck will become another build project as the last one was. This one will include lots of pictures unlike the previous one. I will be going slow with the build due to 7 kids and work, but I am determined.

The one thing I do know for certain is the truck will be painted two tone..Husker red where the blue is and white where the white is..sorry die hard husker fan.

I say stepside here because i put chevy fenders on the bed so that my wheels and tires fit underneath...

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.
