Sorry to bring up again - Drive thru Car Washes

Both local and both say 84" max. Book says 81 for my truck (2011 crew cab long bed 4X4) ...

Anyone take em through. It was really dirty and took a long time in the hand spray cage and in 48 degree weather its really cold.

So whats the consensus or do you just hand wash them in the driveway.

Also Washington State is starting to push not washing vehicles in your driveway.

There's a touchless one that I take mine to. No issues.

We have no touchless around the Puget Sound (Seattle) area that I know of. Nor any over height drive through Car Wash. (Ive seen 88 and 90" ones in Cali last time I was down there)

I use the local one on my SD all the time. They vacuum then send her through...and dry on the end. They also clean the inside...

Just fold the mirrors in...and you should be good to go.

I can't speak for all car washes but I have taken mine though a "Bubbles" facility here in Houston on occasion.

2 things I observed...

The antenna takes a beating and make sure the mirrors are folded in.

I did a 2" leveling kit on the front of my truck and have 35/1250 tires and have no problem going through a 7' carwash. As a matter of fact that's how I wash the truck because otherwise it would be a huge PITA!

I take mine through each time that I fill up. Never give it a second thought.

I use a touchless wash works well. I have taken mine thru a normal wash that was setup for 8 foot clearance. No issues wither one.

I had one close call with a section of a parking garage that was 6'-6". I was able to back my way out.

Crewcab longbed here. Nope, don't use automatic car washes. More than the height, most are not set up for the extra length.

I've only used touchless. Close fit but works great.
Extended cab short bed.
No way I would take a CC LB in one.

That video...I LOL'ed.
His wipers looked fine, what else would you want to mess with???
Stay in the vehicle.
Someone had their brain turned off that day.
He's lucky he didn't get hurt.

I take my CC LB through this one all the time.

Welcome to Tanasbourne 76 :: The Touch-free Car Wash for Portland's Hummers, SUVs, luxury vehicles and sports cars

No issues other than I can't get good satellite reception while in it.

I tried bringing my truck through a touch less carwash once, once. Even with my lift I got no problem, it's the length. I use to have a 2001 CC F250 that fit no problem , but this truck is obviously longer. I watched the carwash start to making the turn to wash the back end and I knew it wasn't going to clear. Already being suspect, I had the truck in drive with foot on brake. I stomped on the gas and the car wash barely nicked my bumper.

Needless to say, I have only hand washed since.
