Ebay F 250 Purchases
I have been intrigued by the low costs of some of the F250 pricing on Ebay. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with purchasing cars through Ebay Motors? In particular the Texas groups and the one in Carolina. I contacted the one in Memphis and they are still a week behind and haven't called me back. My local dealer has been shaken up and put in a sales manager who I just can't deal with.

eBay Motors
There have been more then a few scams dealing with cars from ebay. Be more then careful. Sometimes there is no car at the end of the auction and person out the deposit.
I also would spend extra money just to sit in the car and drive it before purchase. Know what you are purchasing.
Try Car MAX for used cars, Not the best price but you can see and drive the car before you purchase it.

That is how I purchased my '03 (see sig). Dealt with a company out of Dallas, TX. Won the auction...flew to TX...and drove it home.
Lots of pictures, accurate description, and great price. Auction included a CarFax. And at the time...I was able to run the VIN here on FTE and get the FORD Oasis report.
The history showed single owner truck and FORD replaced ball joints at 31,000 miles. No other issues with truck. I purchased in 2005 with 87,000 miles...and just traded it this year for my current 2012. I loved that Superduty...it was a great truck!
That was my experience...just use caution and make it a point to call and chat with sales folks that are listed in the auction.

Be sure the Ford Oasis report matched the vehicle you are purchasing to the "T". There have been scams out there where stolen trucks have all visible VINs replaced with a legitimate VIN from another vehicle in a different state. The scam is not limited to online purchases.
4 years ago a good friend of mine bought a nearly new 2007 Ram 2500 Diesel from a legitimate car dealer which was purchased through a large well known auction. When he took his truck in for service several months later the service writer asked if the truck had been painted. He asked this because the dealer report showed the truck as being white instead of red. This flag caused him to look into it in detail. After contacting the selling dealer they recommended he contact the state police. The state police came to his house with a creeper and slid under the truck. They removed an inspection plate on the transmission I believe and discovered the real VIN for the truck which was stolen locally (50 miles away some 6 months earlier). The dealer was able to file an insurance claim which reimbursed him for the cost of the truck. He was lucky. Turns out this was part of a large theft ring that was using inside factory workers to reproduce VIN plates and door jamb decals with VINs from vehicles registered in different states. BUYER BEWARE!!!
