So this is what I've been up to lately. I was told that welding to cast manifolds was a big no-no and it would end up badly. Fortunately I had a exhaust header flange to build off of. I'll form a 2" piece of pipe to fit the rectangle shape and turn it up to go to each turbo.
I've been thinking about using Jet Hot to ceramic coat the whole thing when it's done to make it last longer, any experience with it?

Half finished

Intake manifold for reference

I learned an important lesson in cams and lifters. . . .

I've been using compcams for my valvetrain, and had a custom ground cam made up. Can't get rid of the lifter ticking noise. A lot of research, and I found that their lifters are kinda ehhhhhh and they tend to bleed out too fast.
I haven't called them to verify, but I guess their lobe ramp rates are pretty intense and the lifters can't hold up to it.

Anyone else hear of a similar situation? Also, do you know who has the best quality lifters around?

Finished the megasquirt stuff last week. Plugged the megasquirt ecu to the adapter board, then to the wiring harness. Put 12v to the harness and it lit everything up. Just for kicks ill plug the throttle body in and make sure the TPS works like it's supposed to.
This megasquirt deal is a real PITA to set up but I sure hope it's worth the time invested. Hopefully I can get some extra cash saved up this winter and this whole project will be done by the end of spring

Yeah, DIY EFI's like megasquirt are a PITA. It's the steep learning curve (or wall...) but if you keep at it, you'll have a greater understanding of what it takes to fuel these beasts.

Create a Wiring schematic manual to help build and maintain it afterwards.

Does megasquirt do Wideband O2's? Last I check (years and years ago) they didn't.

Yes I believe they even have the capability to run two wideband O2 sensors. What blew me away is it has the ability to run flex fuels also, like e85 if you have the sensor.
I used the stock harness and cut out the sensor plugs I didn't need, like power steering, a/c, emissions stuff. Fortunately I can just use the wiring diagram out of the chiltons manual then.

Ok, if the comp cam you are using has the extreme energy loves it will cause a tick especially at idle. Might sound like a mild exhaust leak. Comp lifters are decent, that's not the issue. The steep ramps of the lobes are the cause. It doesn't hurt anything and is considered normal

I'm quitting this project, as my goals have changed for my pickup restoration. I do still have all the parts for it and it would be a good runner still.
So I'm selling the entire project in one piece. Engine, all fuel injection parts, both turbos with flanges, and my (mostly) finished custom header. I even have a dual-plane offy intake with holley 390cfm carb.
If someone is seriously interested I will post everything associated to the build, even detailed information on special engine specifications, since I had it built for extreme duty.

Came back

Ok so I have a 69 hot rod pickup and decided to keep after the twin turbo build. Here's my progress.

I have the exhaust manifold all mocked up, going to finish welding it and get a quote from JetHot to get ceramic coated.

Hhhh, have you considered an electric supercharger, given the close proximity to juice you have there? ()

I honestly don't know what that plugin is there for . It was there when I bought the pickup and I never bothered to figure it out.

Oh yea an electric supercharger would make it run like 11s right?

On street tires, probably a little better on slicks.

Follow the wires, if any, back to an inverter. Maybe. That is a very handy item to have, but the execution there could have been better imo. But we (I) digress from the project at hand. Good luck with it!
