Radiator support, Fix or replace?

Tore into the front end to replace the rad support mounting bolts and found the bottom corners to be thoroughly rotted. Should i try to fix it (I do have a welder but no time till december) or should i cough up the money to replace it?

I have a few pics in my gallery on how I fixed mine. It wasn't as bad, but the patches that I made seem only slightly smaller than your area of damage. It seems that if you don't have time to fix yourself, you probably wouldn't have time to install the replacement that you purchase.

That core looks very salvageable. I'd suggest since you have it out, try the fixit route taking nibbles of time here and there. If by Dec you don't have it fixed, then get the replacement. Good luck

Carras what did you do about the third layer of steel? I'm noticing where my rust spot is that there's a internal layer or steel. I could easily replace the two outer layers but Im not sure about the internal one

the only places where I found layers were where the sections overlapped as in this picture.

What I did here was put in a peice from the front - I already had the front cut away. I welded that inside peice from the inside (accessed from front), then rust encapsulator. Finished up the front section after.

I don't recall running into 3 layers though. Forgive me for asking, but could that 3rd layer that you are seeing be rust scale?

I'm thinking its a third sheet. It's too thick for rust scale and I'm seeing it in multiple areas so I'm thinking its a third sheet. Ill shoot a picture of it

Hey Dave thought I still had a couple of supports left. No one wanted them when I had them. I remember selling them for $50.00 a piece.
If I come across another one I'll let you know. I'll send you my number in a P.M.

66 grilles are wanted and I could not hold one for very long. You'll never get one for that price unless you hunt it down and remove it yourself.
The 62 63 64 core supports just are'nt in demand. So I got rid of what I had.
65 66 f100 2wd core supports are worth $$$$

Thanks for keepin an eye out Robert! For now I'm gonna try to repair it probably around Christmas time because of my school schedule. If I find that for some reason I can't fix it I will let you know!

If I come across a good one soon I'll grab it for you. Even if you don't want it I can still get rid of it.
