What is this part 2006 2.3 engine.

Red arrow pointing to it. Its missing on the truck I am buying.

A SWAG is a fuel pressure transducer. It has electrical connections, and is connected to the fuel line or to vacuum. It has a diaphragm so will have mechanical motion based on pressure or vacuum. From the picture the exact plumbing cannot be determined by me, so it is a SWAG. Scientific Wild A** Guess.

Attaches to the intake and has at least 1 electrical connection.

Here is a link for the autozone repair info. Not real thorough but gives some info. Without idle air control you should be getting a check engine light not to mention an unmetered, unfiltered air leak directly into intake. If bought from a dealer it should have been replaced prior to purchase. If you need more info try your local library reference department. Many have All Data or Mitchells on Demand ( car repair databases) on their computers. You could print out information pertaining to a particular repair.

Yeah AZ online manual is ok, but I may be pulling this engine and doing a rebuild so gonna need a way better source.

About $80 at the Ford dealer will buy you the 2 main manuals - engine & body. At least, that's what they cost me in $CA for my '97. If you're doing a lot of work, it'll be the best $80 you spend.

There is too much free stuff on the internet to buy anything any more. I have a complete library(PDF) of a lot of cars and trucks. I just never owned a ranger and had access to internet.
I had to pull the engine on this truck. I know the manual would not have told me how to cheat and pull it whole by taking off only a hand full of things. I learned that the hard way. Now I got engine read to go back in. I can tell you one secret, dont pry on that water pump trying to get it out.... The ears break off real easy.,.
Ford must have had a brain fart and went back to the 80's, hoses and wires every where. Going from one side to another.
