1971 C700 VIN Help
I just purchased a 1971 C700 Custom Cab. With a tilt Cab. Is in great shape for its age. I want to know more about the truck and have done a vast amount of research thus far. Its obviously a V8 with a four speed. Big OL' Rear end on it!! (best girlfriend I've had) I am just getting a lot of different info. If someone could graciously help me I would appreciate it. The Warranty tag on the inside of the driver door has the below info on it.

Justin

Your truck was sold new a looong way away from AK. If sold new in AK, it would have been ordered from Seattle (DSO 74).

A TV crew waited while modifications were made on the eagle so it would fit properly.
Several days prior, we took a tour with this guy. He stopped in Girdwood at the place where these carvings are done (in the front yard of a 'mega-mansion' located just off Seward Hwy).
We surmised he got this carving for free, cuz he's 'bird-*******' tourists for the carver. There's a carved bear cub on the cache, probably got it for free, also.
btw: The tour was a bust, the lake where the glacier is located that "She who must be obeyed" wanted to see was still frozen, so the tour boat wasn't going anywhere.
Also stopped at that Wildlife Center. Meanwhile, back at the hotel parking lot sat our rental Bronco. We coulda taken the tour ourselves and saved over 100 bucks.

That seems to be the way of living up here. Everything is hit or miss.
Drove past the Sheraton this evening. The carver on Seward Hwy is really good. I have seen a bunch of his work.
If you get the chance you have to try Halibut fishing up here. In 2009 I caught a 155 pounder. It was great. A little over Priced in my opinion. Good trip though.
