66 f 100 door adjustment

I have a 66 f 100. The fender was trashed and I have a new one, the door had some bends in it and it was pinching the old fender. I was playing with the non damaged fender and it seemed to pinch a little. The door does seem to be hanging maybe 3/16th. can I adjust this door while it is in place with the bolts in the door and or the hinge bolts?
I have another door that I could swap out if necessary but it needs a little rust work first..

Check with a body man, there are little tricks with wedges that they use to straighten doors.

Old used car dealers trick to fix sagging doors: Park vehicle on hard level ground, preferably concrete. Place a 2x4 between the ground and door sill. Close the door till it just touches the wood, then give it a gentle push.

Check door alignment, if still sagging, repeat as necessary, then when door properly aligned, tighten up the hinges.

Do not mess with the hinges beforehand!

A mistake people make: They attempt to align or re-install doors when vehicle is on jackstands or when parked on a slope. Lotsa luck getting the doors aligned, it's a PITA!

I made this mistake over 30 years ago with a '55 T-Bird. It took days to get those friggen doors aligned and when all was said and done, I had to repaint the doors as the edges were all chipped.

The only reason I removed the friggen doors in the first place (vehicle was on jackstands) was to repaint them.

Numbers, your method sounds good. can you dummy it down for me as I am a visual type of guy. The truck is on flat concrete Where does the 2x4 go and how long is the 2x4?

Unless the hinges are known to be bent why bend them.
Adjust them to get the door to where you want it to be. They will adjust any direction you want them to.

Take the little covers off inside of door. If the door is hanging in back slightly loosen the bottom 3 bolts and lift back of door until you get it where it needs to be. If the top or bottom of door needs to go in our out then adjust the hinge at "A" pillar. Of course if back of door at latch is in or out adjust latch.

If door needs to go forward or backwards adjust at inside of door. not on body side.

Also look at gap @ rear of door and compare to other side. The fender will adjust slightly too but proper procedure is to get the door aligned to cab first. From the factory some doors fit great some poor and the rest in between.

Is the entire door hanging?

mine was slightly damaged I have a new door. It looks like some one has adjusted ortried to adjust the door in the past. The inner screws you are talking about, 2 of them have had pieces of their washers broken. Like I said I do have a replacement door but I would like to make this one work so I can put the fender on...

adjust the door to cab first then install the fender.

The doors can be a real bear to adjust properly.
A trick you may want to try is get the latch adjusted to correct height and with some help with door shut have a person inside and another on the outside. Loosen bolts (door side) then have person on outside adjust door to proper position then tighten door bolts. If the hinge in "A" pillar side is off you will have to move them a little by little until you get door in correct position.

Normally if you look at marks on hinge from where bolts were that is a good place to start. Is your "A" pillar area damaged?

no the only damage is where the door meets the fender, it was pinched in the accident.
it sags only slightly and it does catch on the latch just could be adjusted a little tighter.
