Sorry Don, no video this time but we have a few pictures.

Things were a little bit different this year there was 8 or 9 other racers. They split it into 3 races, each race you participated in, you got $100 with no grand prize. First race was a regular 10 lap "light" bump to pass with no trailers, second was a "light" figure 8 bump to pass, and the main was a all out last man with something hanging on their hitch.

I only was able to race in the first two, due to the fact that I blew the steering box apart when i was spun out during the second race.

We had such a great time at these races that i am building another one.
81 F-250 2wd. Paid $100 and its getting a heart transplant.

Well is about that time again, so i figured i would give an update. Things went really good last year and we had a lot of fun. I started tinkering with the existing motor(351m) in the pickup. I was told that it blew up. I found a broken distributor wire, so i threw a carb on it and it fired right up even on 5 year old gas. I did some more digging and found out it had about 10k on a rebuild which they put 400 pistons and crank and a .030 overbore and has oil pressure of 50psi hot. I decided against the motor swap after running this motor, the Windsor has a lot more potential and is a lot easier to build but I wanted a challenge. After lots and lots of research i started my cheap 400 build.
I ran last years race with a completely stock motor and this thing really surprised me how well it ran stock. I ran a 20 seconds flat lap time on hermiston's 3/8 oval!
We Had C-10 sitting around with no motor so my brother put that Windsor in it and made his own.
Here they are all together.

Well i guess we will get to the good part. Videos!

I guess now is a good time to show my cheap 400 build.

I started off doing research and found that it was a D7TE-A2B block With reinforced Main Webs and D5AE-A2A 2V heads with 74.5cc open chambers so im not starting off to bad. It has 400 crank and 71' flat top pistons so the CR is in the 9/1 area instead of 8/1. I figured i would start with the problems that made these motors a so-called boat anchor. I found a set of used 351c headers that i got for free. They needed a few little modifications but nothing bad. next thing to address was the factory 4 deg. retarded cam. Most people that put cams in 351/400 usually go with 250-260 duration cam because after all these are pickup motors, but i knew the i was going to be revving this a little higher then the average Joe, so i went with Comp cams 268H and matching valve springs and timing gear. The Intake is going to be a Holley Street Dominator that is a open plenum intake that was discontinued topped with a Holley 4160. For the ignition system i bought a MSD cdi box with matching coil and wires because i wanted a rev limiter and wanted to get rid of the old chopped up harness.
So far i have gotten everything in except the intake and man! it isn't a boat anchor anymore. I smashed the throttle and left 2 rubber streaks all the way through our seventy foot shop. The thing that i like most is that i have a total of $933.56 invested into this whole thing and that's everything down to spark plugs. Well that's about it for now I will try to get a schedule posted for this year in case anybody wants to watch or participate.
