Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm still torn but I think I may be leaning toward the AT KO. I had Silent Armors on my last Ex, they had some noise but with a diesel with a 4" exhaust, does a bit more noise really matter. It seams the Silent Armors are somewhere in between the 2 BFGs but closer to the KO.
Looking at the Rugged Terrain and the AT KOs side by side, well, I really like the look of the KO and that's more what I'm more what I'm used to. The Ex I just got has brand new General Grabber HTS tires but I hate the look and I don't think they will do much in the winter. I guess if I'm going to throw down over a grand on tires, I want something very different! Wear isn't too critical for me as long as I get reasonable life. Sometimes the tire lasting longer isn't always a good thing. I don't like running a tire for too many years and if noise increases as they wear, they will be noisier longer, at least that's my theory.
So noise and wear aside, I'm down to performance and appearance. One thing about the KOs, they don't come in OWL in my size. Thought I wanted white letters out, but the Ex is black and the black tires look pretty good a black vehicle IMO.
Anyway, I checked prices locally today, the Rugged Terrain 285/75/16s were about $245 each plus about $20 for install & fees. they said the KOs were about $20 more so not a big difference. I can get the RTs online at Tire Buyer for $211, free delivery. The KOs were $221. I called a local shop (close to me and not a BFG dealer) and said they would install for about $20 each just for mounting or around $120 for lifetime rotation etc. I might just stop back at the BFG dealer and see if they might negotiate the price some. I'd rather buy the tires from the shop that installs them.
Think I would be looking at around $1140 at the BFG place as opposed to $1000 online and mounted at the other shop (before tax). What do you think, online or do you think the BFG dealer might budge some? I guess I will get the bottom line price tomorrow and see how they compare.
Any opinions on buying online as opposed to a local tire shop? I'm gonna pull the trigger pretty quick, if I can make a final decision of course! Thanks for your advice and keep it coming!
Thanks!
Steve

That's what I'm thinking. I do a lot online, but I'm concerned in this case about any warranty issues. Much easier to deal with the shop that sold and installed them. Never had an issue with a bad tire, but I have heard of guys getting a bad one occasionally. I'm going to see if the local BFG dealer will work with me on price a bit.

Hey everyone,
Sorry to be a PITA, but if anyone running either the BFG Rugged Terrain or the BFG All Terrain KO could post a quick pic I would appreciate it. Especially if you have a 285 mounted on a 16" rim. I think I need more visuals! This shouldn't be that hard, right! Thanks again foe all of your advise!

Ok well not on a super duty or running 285 75 R16s because we haven't gotten the money yet to put TA KOS on our 02 f250 but here is some on our 86 F150 4x4 running 31 10.50 R15s. I really want to get TA KOs on our 02 F250 in 285 75 R16 but no money yet so dealling right now with what came on the truck (General Grabber AT2's which suck).

This is under load with our TA KO's 80lbs a battery 16 batteries plus a superduty wheel and tire. Thats 1280lbs plus our trailer and the wheel.
You reminded me I don't have many pics of the 86 without the ladder rack or working.
Oh shoot I forgot here is a pic of our old 02 F250 4x4 super Cab V10 that had TA KOs
These are a bit closer look. These are 265 75R16 tires on a 2002 F250 4x4 super cab super duty wheel we had 265s because of load ranges we wanted higher because this was our big load hauler. They has 43,000 miles on it when we traded it in.
Ya this is the day we traded it in so thats why thier is a toyota sign in the back.

When I bought my (used) 2006 F250, it came with brand-new BFG Rugged Terrain tires on it. For my use I like them -- fairly quiet on the highway, but the traction has been good when I've had to drive across a field or over a mountain pass. If I was doing more extreme off-road driving I could see wanting chunkier tires, but these seem fine for the way I use the truck, mostly on-road, snow in the winter, once in a while using 4wd to get through some mud or deep gravel.
