Rubber hose soot? How does it get cleaned

So I spent 20 minutes at work with fantastic and a piece of scotch brite to try and clean the soot/powdered rubber off my intake hoses, and its still sooty black.
It's better than it was but still nothing I am impressed with.
If I had a pressure washer I'd try that but don't have one handy.

What have you guys used to clean the crap off old degrading intake hoses.
Thanks guys

Mine has Carolina clay dust on them. Still trying to get them black again. Tried bleach white(tire cleaner). Helped, but need something better too.

The black stuff your trying to clean off is most likely deterioration from the intake tube itself. I use regular Dawn soap, but you can never really clean it all off.

Clean it with dish soap, then treat it with..... baby oil.

It will take a few weeks of doing that every few days (3-5 days) before it really keeps it shine for any length of time.
