Hi, I have a 1992 F-150 with a 302. I have found the EEC Unit, but I can't get it out. Is there a trick. The unit is stuck in the cowl. The numbers on the door panel are 2-54J-R10.

The computer in my 94 was stuck too, ended up pushed in too far and hung up on the firewalls tin little bit.

IIRC to get it unstuck I pushed it forward using a long skinny bar from inside of the cab, bar through gap between door jamb and aluminum column support bracket. You have to take the cowl panel off to do it, takes couple seconds to remove it. Look with a flash light you can see the but end of the computer in its sleeve.

And the bolts that retain the computer, the two studs, they are connected to the computers sleeve inside the firewall, once the nuts are removed there is nothing to hold it exactly in place any longer.

 

Easiest was is to remove a couple of screws holding the inner wheel well, and push it to the side, that's all I did to pop the lil sucker out.
