Finally I got some sleep last night.
I had not gotten more than a couple of hours at a time over the three previous nights.
I don't mind the calls at night when they mean money in the paycheck.
Let me point out that when the phone rings at night I experience an adrenaline rush that precludes my return to sleep.
It is the calls that are generated by idiots that bother me.
I had two calls on the same night from road clubs on behalf of a couple of their members.
The problem with those calls was that they had quite limited member benefits.
One (11: 50pm) had a 10 mile tow limit to be paid by the road club and wanted to to be towed 54 miles.
When the owner was informed of the additional cost to him, he declined my services.
The other call (2:25am) was for a club member that had a $50.00 allowance and wanted a 75 mile tow.
Again that resulted in a waste of my time and a loss of sleep.
Now on Sunday morning I was called by a service company that had a member who had a proper amount of coverage for his needs.
He is insured through Hagerty Insurance - Fueling the collector car hobby through insuring and supporting the classics.
They are a great company for classic and specialized vehicle coverage.
The tow was a 149 miles to his home and after the insurance covered the majority his portion was $90.00.
I was on scene in 50 minutes and he was home 2½ hours later.
As he would have probably used $60 in gas his total loss was maybe $30.
Now that my rant is over let me point out that the cost of years of the coverage by a proper road club plan will pay off with only one service tow.

Hi folks.
I had to take my work truck to the Cummins service in Mobile again yesterday.
The fan mount bearing was going out and the fan was wobbling.
They had it in and out in less than 2 hours and that was with me getting there at the start of their lunch hour.
However the steps needed to change the fan mount were ridiculously simple.
1.) Release the belt tension
2.) Remove 4 bolts securing the fan and pulley to the mount.
3.) Remove the 4 bolts securing the mount to the block.
4.) Install the new mount with 4 bolts.
5.) Reinstall the pulley and fan with the 4 bolts that you took off earlier.
6.) Replace the belt.
7.) Charge $100.00 labor for 15 minutes of actual work.
8.) Charge $304.00 for the fan mount.

Good morning to all.
I awoke to a nice brisk touch of Fall in the air today.
I reckon that I'll have to mow the lawn this weekend, now that it has rained for the first time in weeks.
David how are you doing?
Let us know as we do care and worry about you.
I'll be back this evening to check out everyone's posts.
