You guys want to see something fun? Check out the compressor I just got. 1979 302 power baby

Had to get one this big to power my sandblaster (Which, if anyone needs stuff cleaned up, let me know ). Flows 125 cfm @ 100 psi

They make them in all sorts of sizes. The manufacturer of mine does 302, 351, and 460. The 460 one flows something like 400 cfm. These type have half the engine running like normal, while the other side has special pistons and head that compress air. Other types have a compressor attactched to thr flywheel, but those are more common with diesels

There are some plans out there to take an old VW
air-cooled engine and disable 2 cylinders and
cut the intake so it can work like a big compressor.
Volks-Aire Air Compressor Kit, Fits Upright VW Engines, Standard Model, DR3S - Aircooled.Net VW Parts

we had looked at those. Decided it would be best to dish out a little more for something that works, because we rely so heavily on air tools, and our other compressor blew out

Or is that Crook County? I forget.
