So I have a 2011 f-150 5.0L with 7,500 miles. Totally Stock.

Im using Mobil 1 0w-20 synthetic.

I would like to upgrade the air filter to K&N, #33-2385.

Does the 5.0L come with irridum spark plugs?

And last but not least, tuning. Not sure from who.
I would like to get a towing tune or mpg tune.
Im not interested in a performance tune. Thats what my Porsche is for

Tune will be the best bang for the buck.
Intake is good, will add a good sound.
Plugs are unnecessary, factory plugs will work great to 450+ hp.
And the truck already has an effective PCV system, CCV isn't necessary...

 

i went with the edge unit... does great for my needs... also have a AFE intake and exhaust

 

What plans/style of catch can are you doing? I looked at some of the air compressor separator options but never found anything I liked.

 

Im doing similar fairly soon. Using a a separator.

I've posted the solution that eliminates the need for the can.

They knew that they were right in removing good oil from the engine and then pouring more good oil in.

 

Can u elaborate? As I am aware, people like using these catch cans to reduce gunk build up from hydrocarbon vapor in the intake tract. Yes there is some oil residue in that vapor but its going to be consumed in combustion, not reintroduced into the sump?

 

Simple physics.
The velocity of the air is high enough that it draws oil (spatter, vapor, mist, etc.).
Install a restrictor to reduce the air speed or change the tube to a small ID.

 

What about a baffle in the pcv line?

So far I have done (by ford) exhaust, cai, and custom tune by SCT. Gained about 40hp. What should be next? I was thinking the Ford 302 intake because it pretty much bold on along with gears....

The boss manifold only helps above 4000 rpm, high rpm air flow. Since the truck 5.0 has smaller cams, more restrictive exhaust manifolds and lower compression, the gains will be pretty thin, in dollars per hp.

Gears, though outright more expensive, feel much faster.

An off road y pipe, with more aggressive engine and transmission tuning, will make a quick truck.
