1997 F150 Coyote !
Heya guys, I have a 1997 F150 4x2, manual 5 speed with the original 4.2L 6 banger in it. It has over 600k miles and is ready for an engine swap.
I have toyed with the idea long enough, I want to swap in a 5.0 Coyote motor. I have looked online and in forums, yet all I can seem to find is info on Mustang retrofits... anyone know of a place with install kit/info?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers Dwayne

Here are some major items you would need to consider.
1. The PCM and all wiring would have to be changed.
2. The transmission won't take the torque of the motor very long.
3. All the misc items that would have to be addressed.
It could be done but not a simple swap.
If you have a donor truck to get all the items it makes life a lot easier.
For one thing I believe the trans with the motor is a 6 speed.
Trying to make an auto trans PCM work with a manuel would be a project in it'self. The programs are completly different.
The complexity of these integrated systems is hard to handle on a backyard re engineering basis.
Good luck.

thanks for the info, what year model donor trucks are best? I have done ALOT of transplants, so I am not scared about the electronics. The Coyote systems nowadays have standalone electronics/harnesses, so that makes life simpler. I had heard the 5 speed manual n the F150 was weak, so i figured a tranny swap would be in order as well. I have access to all the equipment necessary to do complex transplants. When popping a Cummins into an old Ford, there was actually a kit with pre-fabbed adaptor plates, etc. Was just hoping something was out there for this type of retrofit.
