1957 Ford F-250 found in Junkyard..What can I use???

Hey fellas,
I stumbled across a 1957 Ford F-250 in a local junk yard the other day, its a straight 6, 4 speed on the floor.

What can I use for my project 1954? I Already grabbed the door handles and the starter motor. Its exactly the same as the ones on my 54. The starter even works, and is somewhat hard to find after more research. This junkyard is really cheap, and all prices are set. (I got the starter for $17, door handles for $4 etc.)

I need about everything for my truck, including glass. Is any of that stuff the same? Bench seat? (any of you guys need anything for a '57?

Thanks guys!
Ryan

You may want to grab the rear axel if it is a 9". It should the correct width and be a direct bolt in.

Its a F250 so it wont be a 9" rear end.

6 cyl exhaust manifolds sell well and are hard to find in good condition. The temperature sending unit is specific for 56 and 57 fords only and Last I knew nobody was reproducing them.

57 hood emblems are desireable if they are in good cond as well.

The 57 will have 12 volt electrical components, including that starter,Ryan. Are you converting your 54 to 12 volts?

Good score then, on the starter.I was not aware the 223 I-6 used the same starter as the Y-block.

What did the grille look like? The gauges and hood? Doors?
You could make a few bucks for your time and effort.

I'm going back today, will take pictures. Hey quick question, will the 57 4-speed transmission mount up to my 292 Y-Block. I know the 4-speed is hydraulic not cable. Can I make the hydraulic into cable? Or how hard would it be to convert the 54 to hydraulic ??

B6C-10884-A .. Temperature Sending Unit, obsoleted in the mid 1960's. Hard to find ever since and it was used on all 1956 FoMoCo vehicles only.

I found 37 of these at a Ford Dealer in Exeter CA, sold them for 20 bucks each...and this occurred 1976/77. What would they be worth today?

1957/60 temp sending unit: B7A-10884-A (Motorcraft SW-363) / Obsolete ~ 56 available NOS / Also available from autoparts stores.

1954/64 223 trucks use the same exhaust manifold as 1954/64 223 cars, it's notorious for cracking. Very hard to find used in uncracked condition.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any NOS, and the little charmer is not reproduced.

Ibuzzard bait: 6V positive ground thru 1955, 12V negative ground 1956 thru today.

Forest_54_Ford: 1957 Ford truck is an entirely new design, no body parts or glass interchanges with prior years. Outside door handles are 1957/60 only as are the window and door crank handles.

Powertrain might interchange...depending on years, but that's about it. 1957/60's have a hydraulic clutch. What Ford truck from day one thru the 1970's has a clutch cable? None.

Amazing that stuff still shows up in the yards! Pull whatever you can afford, somebody will need it.

The exhaust manifolds on the 223 are know for cracking, if that one isn't, grab it!
