No wait to start light

I have a 1996 f-250 with a 7.3l in it. When I go to start it there is no wait to start light and I get a check engine light. I replaced the gpr on it and still nothing. I get voltage on the pcm control wire when the key is turned on so I am assuming my fuse is good, is there any thing else I can check before I have towed to ford, thanks.

Unplug the fuel bowl heater and replace fuse #22 under the hood.

The answer to your question is Yes. So always is better use a meter.

Yep use a multimeter or a test light to make sure you have power to both sides

On mine the wait to start only comes on for a few seconds, but the really runs the full cycle. Are you having a relay issue or just the light?

No wait to start light means no power to the PCM

No WTS & a cel usually mean you need a PCM....

So even though my light comes on for about 15 seconds and the relay comes on for much longer your saying i may need a pcm. the system seems to work.

No. If the WTS doesn't come on at all that means no power to the PCM

Rick is saying that if no WTS and CEL stays on you could need a PCM

Ok kinda thought that but thought I would check. Is there a way to get it to stay on the full cycle?

I got my truck going this weekend, the hot lead to the starter was chafed and it shorted out against the frame, which in turn blew the fuel pump relay. So it seems that if the fuel pump relay is bad it has similar simptoms of a bad glow plug control module, thanks for all the responses.
