Heater Core with Economy Dealer A/C Removal Help
Hello all,
Before I just dive in to this dashboard, would anyone care to point me in some time and knuckle saving directions?
I have to replace the heater core in my 1973 F100 2x4. It has the economy dealer A/C installed (a small panel to the left of the glove box, two ***** and two vents in a tasteful faux wood paneling with the Ford logo on it).
So, any helpful hints as to how this comes apart? Ideally if you can tell me where the large, red button to have the whole thing pop out as one piece and eject the spent heater core is, I'd much appreciate it.

I have the shop manuals for the '73. I looked in them and they don't have any information on the dealer installed A/C.
I had the same set-up in my '73 F100. Years ago (like 23-24) I needed to change my heater core too. As I recall, I ended up dropping the whole A/C unit out from under the dash to get access to the heater housing.....it was after that I found the red button behind the ash tray.

1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco: TWO different types of dealer A/C, the parts do not interchange!
Economy dealer A/C is not combined with the heater. The two A/C switches are located in a panel that also contains two A/C registers. This panel fits into the dash to the left of the glovebox.
Deluxe dealer A/C is combined with the heater. The two A/C switches are located in the HUGE dash bezel that sweeps across the entire right side of the dash, covering up the glovebox.
There is a separate "hang-on" glovebox bolted to the bottom of the dash.
