1996 f150 Fuel Pump

I have a 1996 F150 300 inline6 with dual tanks. The rear fuel pump quit working. I replaced it with a new fuel pump and drove truck for almost 2 weeks. Then one day I tried to start it and but it wouldnt start, however I could hear the fuel pump prime up, but still would start. i switched to the front tank and it fired right up. After it started i tried to switch back to the back tank, but it started to hesitate and then die. Its like the fuel pump is not pumping the gas, but it does prime just not sending fuel. I also replaced the sending unit. but, still having issues. If anyone has had this please, Please HELP...

I'm currently driving it using the front tank but, it doesnt hold near as much gas as the rear tank does.

Rent a fuel pressure tester from the auto part store to verify the fuel pressure when running from the front and rear tanks. It would not be the first time someone on these forums has gotten a bad pump.

Given that the pump worked fine for two weeks before going away, I'd suspect something wasn't done quite right with the install. If it was one of those knock-off "Walbrow" pumps, I've heard that some one them have shipped with the wrong spec hose that degrades quickly. Or perhaps it just was an infant-mortality sort of deal due to marginal quality control.

I bought the cheaper one from Autozone. after i get the pressure tested i will see about going to the ford house to get a OEM replacement.

Thanks for the advice.
