Scored a canopy/topper on CL

Found a canopy on CL for $200. Was a worn and oxidized white, so I hit it with 60 grit, primed it with some epoxy primer I had laying around, and rolled on 2 qts of Herculiner. For a cheap canopy I think it came out fine and I won't have to wax it. Just hit it with some Armorall if it gets chalky. I like that it has the swing open side windows for easy bed access. This will it make easier skiing with my boys this winter.

NICE!!!
I'm digging the bed-liner approach! Great idea!
I posted a about a month ago about my recent CL score. I'm prepping mine for paint this/next week.

Nice. I am looking around for one too. Correct me if I am wrong but similar year F150's have a different size box and a different shape on the cab end of the topper, right?

Correct. 97-03 F150's and 99-08 SD's can share tail-lights and tail-gates only. They have totally different boxes.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'll just have to keep my nose to the ground. Hey, at least we share tailgates. That makes it a bit easier there, especially for the gooseneck issue that happens every now and then.

That's a neat idea. Looks good too.

Funny, I have a long bed topper that I can't sell. Not going to give out away for nothing, but priced way cheaper than new.

I can find LB versions around, they seem to be more common around here, however the SB is really in demand. I guess they were more popular..

Around here, shortbed canopies sell quickly. I searched casually on CL for about 4-5 months before this one came up. Most of them were in the $500-$800 range, but newer models.

Thanks for the compliments. I think I like it with this finish versus a shiny matching green. Besides, doing a proper paint finish would be far more costly, and one heck of a lot of time. Besides, waxing is not one of my favorite tasks.

You got a heck of a deal on that one! What did you wind up painting it with?

I haven't yet. But a friend has access to some paint he uses for industrial equipment . It's a single stage - gloss white. Nothing special, but the price is right. Hopefully in the next week or two I'll have it ready.
