What the???

I've had the Premium Warn's for five winters now with temps down to -20 degrees. Not one time did they freeze or hang up in any way.

That's good that they never froze up on you. My very reputable shop just advised me against it I'd say mostly for cost because there really isn't any benefit to the premiums unless you just have money to waste. Just saying to the OP that to save a few dollars and not buy the premiums because your not ahead but a brass **** for the cost.

What to do about ESOF hubs.....

Replace with manual hubs of your choice.

Warn Premium hubs are no more or less prone to freezing up in cold weather than any other hub. I've had 2 sets in the past and have never had ANY issue with them freezing, breaking, or otherwise not work. I only wish Warn made the Premium hubs for the 2005+ Super Duty.

The company I work for runs ford trucks. Some have never had an issue with hubs and other have lots. I run a 150 and it just broke for the 10th time. It was a $3000 as they replaced most of the system from the pump down.

I feel your pain...i don't feel like dealing with all the 4x4 nonsense if all it takes is getting out and twisting two *****.

AHA!!!!! I found out what the oval thing is. Its the vacuum reservoir tank, so I'm assuming that if the pump is capped off then it is just an empty plastic container so it could most likely be removed. Ill see if i can dig anything on it up like if it is involved with the heating system etc.

That's not a locking hub, it permanently locks the axle shaft to the hub. Mainly for use in full time 4WD applications.
