It looks like my door lock wire looms go under the hood but I haven't had any luck finding them. Has anybody else tried to install an alarm with negative 500Ma pulse to operate them ? I have relays but am also wondering if the truck has its own somewhere that I can piggyback onto. I know the colors are Pink with a yellow stripe and Pink with a light green stripe.

 

i believe it is up under the dash for the doors. when I tried to get the wire harness for the door electric windows from wrecked ranger, they disappeared up under the dash and that was the last I saw of them. So I cut the wires and made my own and they work pretty well.

 

Thanks ! now I can concentrate there. I was looking under the hood because I couldn't tell and because the fuse is located there.

 

Ok, I've tried to tone out the door lock wires, tried to trace them from the doors & using the color code. I still cannot find them under the dash or under the hood. Unless someone has a suggestion I guess I will wait for it to dry up and go to Pik-a-part and try to find it on a stripped truck.

 

If yours is the same as my 87, you will find the lock/unlock relays behind & slightly above the drivers side headlight.

The EVTM for my 87 has pictures showing the location of all lock circuit relays/splices/connectors.

If all else fails your Ford dealer should be able to print this out for you from the 91 Ranger EVTM.

 

I looked behind the headlights and under the fuse block under the hood. There are relays under the fuse block but none of them triggered the locks. Is there any way you can post or send a picture of yours ?

 

Well i did a search & found the wiring diagram & i see that your 91 is wired directly from the switches to the lock motors. No relays. And the online diagrams dont give locations for anything.

B4 i started buying the factory wiring diagrams (EVTM) i had good luck finding this sort of thing at the ford dealer parts dept. Try that or like you say some poking around at the bone yard might help.
