Paging truckdog62563 -- Wheel ID help
Stu, I'd like to pick your brain a bit if I could.
I posted pics of this truck a month or so ago in a thread where someone was looking for an old tanker truck. At the time I thought it was yard art. I ran into the truck again recently at an ATHS show. It turns out the guy is not interested in selling it, he had just bought it a year ago and has plans to bring it back to life.
Anyway, we got to talking about wheels and he asked me if I had any idea of what he had. I haven't a clue. The truck is a '48 F4. The wheels are 5 lug 18". Here are some pics;
So, what these? are they ugly?
thanks
Bobby

They're widow makers. Pretty much all the 18s were. A good substitute are the 19.5" Budd #89340s if he can find a set. The closest set I know of to NM is on CL in Dallas. Not real close, but these will solve it for him. Stu

Stu,
I was afraid of that. I told him I thought the F4's had the widowmakers but I wasn't sure.
It just so happened that there was an old chrysler chassis motorhome that was for sale on the road to the truck show we were at. I mentioned to him that I thought they would fit.
Thanks for the help. I'll email the guy the info and see if we can make him safe
