96 F250 E4OD won't go into drive
My E4OD tranny lost a front seal a little while back. We pulled the tranny and took it to a local tranny shop that has a great reputation. They replaced the seals, pump and torque converter, then dyno'd it.
We just finished reinstalling it, and took it for a test drive. All it gave us was drive, no first or second gear. When shifted mechanically all three gears worked. (I didn't notice if it went into OD) Upon further inspection we found the electrical plug on the passenger side of the tranny wasn't plugged in all the way. We plugged it in properly and test drove it again. Now it works in first and second gear, but will not shift into drive. During the test drive, at about 35mph the check engine light came on, just as it felt like it should be shifting into drive.
We did need to jump start the engine initially, as it had sat for a few months.
Any suggestions out there of where to look first?
Thanks!
