4. Fab mount and driver for TPS $?
Is this a good start?
Yeah that's a good start, I don't see any point in buying an aftermarket trans controller when the truck already has one in the stock PCM, but since pretty much everything sensor wise has an effect on how the computer controls the trans you have to be prepared to install and/or reconnect most of those engine sensors after the carb intake is installed, but then all the wires are already there so even that shouldn't be a hugh deal. You can use the check engine light as a guide here, basically anything that puts the PCM in limp mode will affect transmission operation, so things you won't need include the O2 sensor, the smog system actuators(TAB and TAD solenoids), the IAC and probably the EGR, but you may need engine air and water temp senders and of course the TPS, and the trans, dash instrument cluster, and rear axle must remain completely intact and electrically connected.

Wiring harness

You would also need a wiring harness. You could probably make it yourself, but it would be surer if you bought it at $150. The last carbureted car with the E4OD was probably the 1991 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It might be kinda hard to find a used intake ,carburetor, and distributor off a comparable motor. Back in the mid 90's a friend of mine got a real good deal on a Camaro with the cross ram TBI that would not run due to problems with the injection system. He tried to change out the injection system for carbureted and ran into lots of problems. IIRC the intakes would not fit to the heads. He got tired of fooling with it and sold it to another mechanic who changed the heads out and got it running. You might run into similar problems.

How do we successfully run a carb on an EFI auto truck. Not the merits of doing so. Its a given that EFI is better and a carb truck is easier.

BTW I looked up the BE controller and it looks like about $600 for the kit. Add $300 for the used dizzy, intake, and carb. $1000 isn't unreasonable for a offroader or race truck.

False.

The Crown Vics used the AOD until 1992, then swapped to the AODE Tranny...Simple as that.

Crown Victoria's from 1995 and down didn't use the E4OD. Period.

Thanks for correcting me on the E4OD, but it was one of the last carbureted cars made.

You don't need a 'carb' intake.
Not a chance in **** it will fit an EFI 460. (the ports are completely different)

You need to purchase a lower manifold adapter plate from someone like Price Motorsport (CS-460EFI) and plug the injector holes

302's were CFI in that generation of Panther cars...351w's were carbed right up til 1991...

Ironically enough, IIRC, F-150's, etc stopped being carbed mid-year of 1987...1988 was the advent of the EFI setups for them

Idk why all the year/breaks, etc occured...Just Ford Tech's in their "Infinite wisdom"...

IIRC trucks under #8600 were EFI in 1985, over that GVW they were considered "Heavy Duty" and those Non-Catalyst trucks were carbureted until the '88 model year.

So my info was pretty much correct...For the HD trucks...

As with the Panther Chassis cars, the 302's were the flagship engines, and recieved all the upgrades the fastest...
