Figured it out
After getting most of the gas siphoned out, I could see 2 tabs sticking up from the plastic housing - one towards the front & one towards the rear. These tabs are the exposed part of a pair of plastic latches that hold the pump housing in the plastic cup that is attached to the tank. I followed the latch down & popped it loose from the recess that it hooks into. Then I pulled the pump housing up & work the filter sock out of its "slot." I installed my new pump into the housing and installed the housing into the cup in the tank. You have to work the filter sock into its "slot" to make it fit. One thing I noticed is that I cannot hear the pump run! It is mounted in rubber bushings. I had to check at the fuel rail to make sure that it was working.
