3.8 Bellhousing pattern

Does the early model (late 80's, early 90's) 3.8 RWD version share the bellhousing pattern with the 5.0? I am trying to sell an AOD and trying to determine if it will work for a buyer.

Thank you,
Jason

Yeah, they share the smallblock bolt pattern.

I had a '84 Tbird with a 3.8, bought the AOD out of a '88 MkVII w/ 5.0, and I'm now swapping my own '72 302 it, with the same tranny.

AOD's came behind some 4.6s early on, but I don't know if it was a 4.6 w/ a SBF pattern, or if the AODs had a modular pattern...

The early 4.6L had a SBF pattern. I believe they changed the pattern when the AOD was replaced with whatever came next.

the first year or two of the 4.6 used the 302 pattern (2 bolt starter) before going to the 7 bolt pattern, and 3 bolt starter. but yes the 300, 302 289 and the 3.8 all used the SBF pattern
