Woo hoo we have A/C

So today I cleared another hurdle! The A/C in the 94 never worked, I had it tested at Pep Boys and they dyed the system and told me there were leaks, and it would be 600 bucks to fix it. "Not today it won't" I said and thanked them for their free eval. Funny thing, when I pulled it all apart to pull the engine, lots of dye on the inside, none I could find on the outside! So after the top end rebuild, I put it all back together and took it to another shop today. I told him that everything was working fine before I disassembled it, I just wanted it vac tested for leaks, and re-charged. 146 bucks no problem. (the vac test and system evac were worth that to me). Guy calls me a few hours later, and tells me that it is done but low pressure side is high, he thinks ??? needs to be replaced. (cant remember what he said evaporator maybe IDK) He knows I do most of the work on my truck myself, and tells me he'll show me what needs to be replaced if I want to do it, and he'll pump it down and recharge it later for no extra charge. Major bonus points! So I asked him "How much if you do it?" He gets back to me about 2 hours later, and tells me another $135. I say "GET IT DONE" and 289 bucks and 2 hours later I have cold as ice A/C! PRICELESS! Sure maybe I could have done it for less myself, Maybe he even sold me something I didn't even need, but he was up front, fast, and affordable. In my book that is worth it. Besides I have other things to worry about, and now I can crank the A/C while I am doing it! Just in time too, it is supposed to reach triple digits in the southland again by the weekend! I guess not everything has gone wrong lately!

Just venting,

Mac.

Update, it was an accumulator and an orifice tube he replaced, 54 bucks total 80 for labor, sure I could have done it for about 20 and my time, but oh well it is done. I think he said it took it from about 90 low side pressure to 60 IIRC.
