Meet Earl's Brazilian Cousin
Hi there,
These trucks are not common in Brazil anymore. They used to be, but not anymore...
That y-block is just painted that way. Its original color was the famous Ford Blue. I'd never seen that kind of paint before. It's very strange, but good.
Regards,
Lobo

Kenny, there are several ways to answer this. The fancy way, with pictures and everything, and the simple way, that’s just plain text. I’ll answer in plain text, and if you want the fancy version, just drop me a line.
Until 1957: Trucks would be imported from the US disassembled to be assembled here.
1957: First Ford truck made in Brazil. It looked like the 1955 model for the US.
1958~1962: Same body as the 1956.
1962~1970: Same body as the 1957~60.
1971~1993: Same body as the 1967~72.
1993~1997: Same body as the 1990.
After 1997, the same model built in the US was also built here. If I show you a picture of our 1999 F250, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Our F250 is just like this one, even the same color:
www.uol.com.br/bestcars/f250-td-1.htm
All the machinery that was used to build our trucks, was the same one used in the US. When they quit making those models in the US, they sent the machinery to Brazil.
Hope this is what you wanted. Tell me if you want a nicer version of it.

Hi Lobo,
I appreciate all this great info!
Actually, there is one other thing.
BlueOvalRage had a really good question (last post on page 1 of this thread), but because my post (after his) had started this new page, I believe his post was somehow overlooked. I feel really bad about this (Sorry Rage). Could you please check it out for me?
Thanks!

Kenny,
Thanks for letting me know. I always open these posts by the first page, but this time I didn’t… I guess I’m the one who has to apologize to him… Sorry Rage…
About your question… I know they exported some trucks here in South America, but I don’t know if they exported them to any other place. I just know for sure now that they exported parts to the US. I’ll try to find out more about Ford exporting trucks made here, and I’ll let you know when I find anything out.

Hi Kurt,
I don't think Ford used ram horn manifolds down here. I've never seen one. The exhaust manifolds were the same, from the F100 to the F600, with the crossover pipe. But, dual exhaust for cars, those grow on trees. It's a lot easier to find those than to find exhausts with the crossover pipe...

Lobo
