sensitive steering on 2005 F-250

I pulled into the drive and then backed out and the steering became sensitive, like the steering isn't hooked up but it still steers, I checked the steering box and its not loose. What could be wrong???

Hello monkey533 and welcome to FTE.

When you say "became sensitive" do you mean the truck changes direction with very little steering input, or do you mean there is no resistance in the steering wheel when there used to be resistance?

There use to be resistance and now there isn't. When you move the steering wheel the front wheels move, but it feels as though the steering wheel isn't hooked up when the truck is running.

So, it is like it is over assisted?

What engine do you have? Are the brakes OK?

If the steering stabilizer looses all it's oil steering effort goes way down.

I'm thinking also maybe a broken ball joint, but the sudden onset of the symptom has me a little puzzled.

Was there anything harsh about the driveway you pulled into? Maybe a jarring bump with the steering at full lock?

No matter. I think your best course of action is to have the truck looked at when up on a lift. A certified suspension technician should be able to sort out your issue.
