Is the light pattern good with the "stock" lenses?
I've have the Euro-style H4 lights in my Tiger (non-DOT 7" round sealed beam "replacements") since the mid-80s, have been very happy with those.
Thanks
The term "night and day" comes to mind.

Prices have actually gone down a bit .
you probably can find them even cheaper

Putting the two together, I would say that "ADV" comes from the Adventure Rider site (Adventure Rider) where the term "farkle" is commonly used for any upgrade accessories that are added to adventure bikes (e.g. panniers, heated grips, aftermarket upgrades, etc.).

Both terms could be used elsewhere, but there's also a lot of cross pollination between the ADV and SMB (sportsmobile) sites.

Hmmm... I was all excited at a better option to see where I'm going - BUT our van has the "composite" style [flush] headlights?

You already have a wide choice of bulbs for your housings, just beware, the brighter, the shorter life, I use silver star I believe, they are in the silver package at the store, the relay is unnecessary as they already have one I believe, just stay away from HID as it does not reflect well in your housing.

Nope. "Aero" housings with a #9007 bulb.

Maples, Thanks - I have used the SilverStars, tried the LEDs, and am currently using the Philips Xtreme Vision... but would like something better?

LED's do not reflect like halogens, I can't imagine them working well in the factory composite housings, if I saw independent study footage I would try them out in my van.

I have a 2004 . He has a 2003. You have a 1999. When did switch?
2004? Did they make both at the same time.
When I looked for headlights initially, everything came up as 9007 but my van had sealed beams.
I thought that was weird at the time but I was glad it was that way.

Maybe the assemblies can be picked up from a junkyard to make a H4 conversion possible.

Headlights came both ways since 92. Had both styles in the fleet 9007 and 6054.

Question

In that case, a swap should be very easy !!
Anyone know why they did that?

From what I remember, power windows seemed to have composites and manual windows had sealed beams. Seems like an option package.

It sure seems like it should be relatively simple, but I'm not sure that I have the patience to track down the various pieces that it would take to swap them out... and who knows what the cost would be? Our van only has 41k miles, so the nose still looks pretty good. The wiring would also be different?

It seems to me that the the low trim/more "commercial" type vans (painted bumpers, gray plastic grille etc) hve the sealed beams and the "fancier" ones (polished alum bumpers, "chrome" grille) have the composites?

I did try the LEDs (noted above) and the beam pattern was no good (IMHO).

There are clear composite housings in the aftermarket, they may work with the LED better because the lens is clear, no ridges like our factory ones, I've heard those housings suck compared to ours with halogen bulbs, they don't focus on the road, aren't diffusing the light, would be expensive to try if it fails tho, but new vehicles with LED have a clear lens.

I'd look for a pick and pull type junkyard with a van tha had mechanical issues or was rear ended.
That way you could cannibalize all you need in one stop.
W/O knowing what is around you, I don't know how hard that would be.
For me, there are plenty of sources if I had to do that.
