Advice - Retractable Truck Bed Cover

I'd be interested to know which retractable truck bed covers others have installed.

Thoughts?

Pics?

Thanks.

I have a Retrax on my truck and I'm very pleased. It keeps my bed completely dry and the only maintenance is applying a coat of wax when I do the truck. The cover has a strong locking system, and I can lock the cover open in any position. The cover is made of lexan, and is a little pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. I am away from home right now for work, so I can't post pics, but I will once I get back.

I bought a Peragon cover last week. It's still in the box, so I can't send you pics. However, several guys have them installed, so I will poach pics from...Mr. Seekins...

I've got the Bakflip F1 retractable cover and it has been, by far, the best thing I've purchased in a very long time! I can fold it up in about 15 sec and securley fasten it in the upright position up against my truck cab in about 30 sec if I ever want to haul tall things like furniture or appliances. Took about 30 min to install initially but I took my time too. It took longer to remove all the plastic wrapping and styrofoam than it did to install it. When folded down, it's stronger than an ox and can easily support the weight of me and my 2 kids (about 260 lbs total). I would estimate it at 98% water tight, but only at the tailgate. 100% water tight everywhere else. It doesn't have a built-in locking mechanism but my tailgate does so my stuff is basically "locked" when the cover is folded down. Clear as mud? Sorry no pics

Thanks Brad for posting the pics.

The cover is about $599.00 delivered. Assembly and installation are quite easy. The packaging makes more sense than any packaging that I've ever seen. The directions are precise and clear and the best part of all is that it's made in America by Americans.

There is a no questions asked one year warranty and a customer support department that is thrilled to help anyone.

There are other great choices on the market so research is key.

I ordered it from Mechanic's Warehouse and paid $1,119. That included the shipping and a tailgate seal. It was a little pricey, but I think it was well worth it. I did a lot of research before I bought, and don't regret this cover one bit. I really like the fact that it can lock in any position on the bed and that it's made of the polycarbonate material Lexan, which is what windshields for the race cars in NASCAR are made of. The cover does not rattle and keeps my bed completely dry. Mechanic's Warehouse carries most all retractable covers out there. I spoke to the guy there when I was ordering and he told me it was the best one they had. Here are a few things about the cover listed on their site:

•One Piece Construction
•Lowest Profile Cover You Can Buy
•Opens Closes With One Hand every 12 inches
•No Drill Clamp-On Installation
•Locks In Any Position On The Bed
•10% Gain In Fuel Economy
•UV Protected, So It Will Not Fade
•Strong enough to stand on (Not recommended)
•Water is channeled to the rails and canister
•Simply the best in class!
•Fast, same or next day shipping with every order

For anyone looking for a cover, if anyone claims that their cover will increase MPG's it's simply not proven and could be a total lie. Check out this link and many others:http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...nDXqp1NV6HzqdA

The reasons to get a cover should be:

Security
Appearance
To keep cargo dry and out of sight
Because you want it.

Tim,

You are absolutely correct, as I have not noticed any change in MPG. I guess I should have said something about that as to not mislead him, but I just copied what they had about the cover on their site.

I bought my cover for the same reasons you posted. I wanted to keep stuff dry in the bed and wanted to be able to lock it. It was definitely a good investment.

Corey,

Your supplier says the same BS that Peragon says. An increase in MPG's which is simply not proven.

Great looking cover BTW!!!

Retrax claims a 10% gain in fuel efficiency?? Wow. I couldn't knowingly advertise that and feel good about it.
