7.3 making me look stuuuuuuupid....

o.k. Guys.....here we go....I'm between stumped, stupid and going broke....

I bought a 1997 international 4700 rollback tow truck....

It has the same 7.3 u guys have in your f250/350/450s....except for where the idm is mounted and the length of the fi pipes.....

Ok....nuff about that.....

So I replaced the internal vc harnesses on the 1357 bank. That side was not doing anything....dead.....no fire. I know this because the locking tabs on that side were broken and laying in the head, and the exhaust manifold showed temps 100* lower than 2468.

Did nothing.

Impedance test.....direct to each injector.....at the injectors...

Every single 1 had 3.4 ohms

Then I reassembled the vc's and remeasured....3.4ohms

Then....I tried testing for 110vdc while koeo and koer and was shocked to find 6.4vdc on 2468 and 4.2vdc on 1357.

I suspect it is because it is not a true rms meter and was not capable of capturing peak.....

I then took a 99 idm and plugged it into the harness.....no fire.

Back to the old idm....still only 2468.....as expected.....

Now....I read about the vc gasket showing proper results but not actual under load....

Swap sides....same issue.

Then....I read about Cps killing one bank....

Grrrrrr

What to do? Not interested in just throwing parts at this....and I can't plug in. It has a very simplified obd1 round connector in the drivers kick, and my genesis does not support anything below obd2.....

I guess the next thing I would test if you don't want to keep swapping parts would be to ohm the injectors from the connector at the IDM. Assuming it is the same pinout as our are, here is the diagram:

Basically you're going to test between pins 24 and 6,21,8 and 20 respectively for 1,3,5,7. I assume that International does the same as Ford did and has a connector of some sort between the engine wiring harness and the engine compartment wiring harness. This would test the integrity of the connections all the way back to the IDM.

The other thing I would do (I know it is swapping parts) would be to get a new International CPS. They're less than $30 and even if it doesn't work, it's a really good idea to have a spare.
