how do I know if I have a 302 or a 351w?

Hey guys,
Just bought a 95 EB F 150 super cab. Really like the body style. Truck has 245,000 miles but still runs great. The I bought it from claims its a 351w, but how can I tell for sure?

Look on the intake. Does it say 5.0 or 5.8. 5.0 is a 302 5.8 is a 351

There should be a tag on the core support that has emission information and such on it. It should say on this tag whether its 5.0 or 5.8. If it doens't have the tag then copy your vin number down and go to an autoaparts store and they should be able to tell you what engine you have using the vin number.

Easiest way is to look at the intake. Its cast right into the top.

Most people would agree that the 351 is the better of the two for truck use, sounds like you got a good deal. Open up the exhaust and do the 6 Liter tune up and it'll start to come alive

Interesting, do you have more info on these procedures?

Thanks,

As for the exhaust, just about anything you do to replace the factory setup will help. The factory setup is dual into single, and it wheezes thru a lil tiny muffler before exiting the single tailpipe.

I cut my muffler off (I know this won't help performance much/any, I just can't stand a quiet motor on anything! I like to HEAR what it's doing... that might come from growing up with old tractors ('48 Allis Chalmers WD and '48 John Deere Model A)
Sometime when I actually have some money free, I'll get duals. Thinkin 2.5" pipes would do her good.

I still need to do a proper sixlitre tuneup. I replaced plugs with Autolite Coppers (Motorcraft copper is recommended) gapped at .050 but didn't bump my timing yet cause I still gotta buy a new timing light.
