Need help with vin on early panel econoline!

I just bought a early panel econoline and the guy said it was a 1962. I am thinking it may be later. I thought it had a 144 motor but now thinking its a 170. Any help with decoding this vin would be great. Here is the vin I found stamped in the back corner.

E14TH496572

THANKS!

Glad to be here! I am pretty sure that is the vin I took off yesterday but I may be wrong. I will have to check it out tonight. I have had a lot of trouble just trying to figure out the year with this vin, so it make since.

something is still wrong. there should be a number at the very start of the vin before the E.
i have 5 different vin decoders and none of then recognize that number.

January 1964 would be my guess. The VIN looks fine, but I'm not the VIN expert.

There is a little triangular shelf/support between the dashboard and the steering column. The two bolts holding it to the steering column: horizontal in 1961-1963 (heads point towards seat), vertical in 1964 (heads point towards roof).

Wrong? Uh...you are referring to a 17 digit VIN, this ain't it.
This 11 digit VIN is 100% correct. The 11 digit VIN is essentially the same for all series of 1961/80 Trucks, Econolines and 1966/80 Bronco's.

17 digit VIN introduced in 1981. The first digit is a number, decodes to the country of origin. 1981/96 examples: 1 = USA / 2 = Canada / 3 = Mexico.

actually, Bill, i was referring to the older car VIN that starts with a number to designate the year.
all 3 of my 11 digit VIN decoders called that an incomplete VIN because it did not have the year number.

P10 = P100 model truck
J = gasoline-powered, 223 cui, 6 cyl, 1 barrel carburetor, 114 HP @ 3600 RPM
H = Assembly plant is Lorain, Ohio
424362 = serial number, assembled in June 1963, 1963 model year.

Do you have the rest of the codes on the data plate?

I'm looking at the different forums here at ford-trucks.com, and I think your P100 belongs on the Large Truck discussion board.

Let me know when the ice cream is ready.

Emil
