Hey Chuck,
Nice work on your '50! I like it - What final color are you going with?
I have to say it looks like you are doing your work in an Airport Hanger - I wish I had that kind of room!
What engine are you going with. Our '50 has a 351W - had a tired old 289 in it when we got it.
Good luck over there!

Hi Ben,
After going thru a bunch of different blues, the wife finally put her seal of approval on 96 Porche Iris Blue. It's alot darker blue than your truck, which I prefer, but I got to keep her happy.
The building is CETEC, it's the trade school at Yavapia College. The class that I am taking lets me work on my own project, gives me all the tools, equipment and instructer know how for a little over $300.00 for the semester. I could not turn dowm a deal like that.
We put together a fuel injected 306. With all the goodies inside it should be in the 380-400 HP range. Tied it to an AOD with a high stall converter, and a 9" with 3.50 gears and a Detroit locker. It should be fun to drive when it's all done.

Hey Chuck,
I looked up Porsche Iris Blue - That's a nice color - It looks
very similar to mine - not sure I could tell the difference.
Are you painting it yourself as part of your Community College experience?
That's a creative way to get some garage space for your project!
I'm jealous of your engine if it's got EFI - I wasn't brave enough to try that.

(Sorry about getting your name wrong initially - I tend to fade late at night).

Ben, I am painting it myself at the school. We are planning on having color on the inside, dash doors and jams by the end of the month. We will be bringing the roller home before snow season. I want to get the roller wired and fire up the engine while the weather is bad and then take it back to the school in early spring to finish the paint work.

I think that it's a heck of a deal. We have a great instructer and the shop facilities are unbelievable. It is however kind of a shame that more young people are not taking advantage of this. The majority of the students are old farts like me. I asked the instructer the other day if I was qualified to shoot a metalic/peral paint. The paint and clear will cost around a grand and I don't want to screw it up. He said no, but I will be right by your side through the whole process, made me feel a little better.
