New XLT SCrew (2012)

Hi folks. Im the new oner of a 2012 XLT SCrw, 5.0, 2wd. Always wanted one but never pulled the trigger. Had a couple of SUV's in the past (Chevy and Izuzu) just never a pick up. Got a great deal at Bill Smith Ford in NC. About 9.5 k off sticker. Bought it through USAA (discount), military discount (additional) plus some other incentives to begin to move the 2012's toward the end of the year.

Ill read a bit before asking any stupid questions.

Ill want to likely do a bug deflector and spray on liner. Not sure if Ill do it right away or wait a bit as the dealer will give me the same price if I do it now or wait a month. Perhaps a Peragon tannau cover too.

I do have to say that having a full size pick up truck has alway been an elusive dream for me. Closest I came was owning a Tahoe. Before that a Trooper...and previously a Blazer. I loved those trucks, but they were always a compromise as the wife wanted an SUV and was not keen on pick up trucks and we only had so much money.

Well we returned from overseas, Im now a retired Army guy and it was wife's turn to pick the vehicle. This has always been a big argument in our family. Well, get this, she fell in love with the F150. I was so happy and thought we could share it, but it was really for her as I already had a vehicle. I bargained for the best price for my wife as she is doing the loan under her name and her paycheck...first time ever!! We got home and she gave me the keys...said she did it for me. ...after I helped her pick it out for her. So she has inherited my Taurus and I got the new truck. Wow! I was blown away.

congrats, welcome back, but most importantly - Thank you.

enjoy the new truck. there is enough knowledge on here to take it apart and put it back together. But I suggest just drive and enjoy

I used to have an Isuzu Trooper 4x4.. the best gas mileage I ever got was 13.5 going 55 mph all the way on a flat surface although EPA sticker said 19. That was with a V6 with 190hp.

My F150 Screw 4x4 said 19 MPG on the highway but I was able to get 23 MPG and I was able to confirm it filling up the tank. That was with a V8 with 360hp.

The back seat has so much space, I could pull up the back seat and reveal space. It is awesome, I love my F150.

I think he is referring to what I wrote: That my wife tricked me into buying her an F150 that she later gave me the keys to when we got home. She knew I wouldn't spend that much money on something only I wanted. So she took me on test drive (for her) had me negotiate a good price for her to pay out of her teachers paycheck. Then when we got home so gave it to me. I was astounded...speechless.
