Lock Pick SYNC-LP1 install

Installed this in my 2012 KR this afternoon. Probably the easiest mod I've ever done, worked right out of the gate after setting it up. Best of all, I got it on eBay from a seller that had it for 55$ less than Coastaletech. Input to the NAV while driving, DVD while driving (I know, I know) when i decide to add a front facing camera all I've got to do is route the wire to the Lockpick, it's camera ready. Can turn on rear camera while driving. I like!

The kit only shows it works up until 2010, but I guess the system is still the same.

I need to get one ASAP.

CoastaleTech has them listed including the 2013 Expedition. There was a firmware update in 2011 from what I can see on their website. I did a LOT of research before making the purchase. No difference in the 11-12 models I don't think. At any rate, I asked the seller on eBay if it was compatible with my 12 just to make sure and it is/was. Works perfect. I think I'm adding a front camera just for the coolness factor.
If you decide to do this, by all means get the plastic tools for taking the dash apart. It's well worth the 7-9 dollars you'll spend
Did you get the illuminated sill plates yet?

Good to know it will work. I haven't gotten the sills yet but they should arrive any day. You're costing me a lot of money.

I was checking out the video on the lockpick site and agree that the front camera is a must have option.

UPDATE:

Have had the lockpick for several days now and I've pretty well satisfied. The NAV input works great, it has a 60 second window for entering the information and we always have about 10 seconds left before it times out automatically. Being able to keep the rear view camera on while driving is kinda neat, haven't watched a movie yet but I know it works when I was testing it out the first day. Wife wants a forward looking camera now, I've been looking around, I don't want to drill hole(s) in the front bumper so looking for a license plate mounted camera. It'll be easy to add, most trouble will be running the video and power wires back to the lockpick in the dash. I've found several small cameras that have a screw mount that I could put in the lower grill area, but thinking I'll use the 3M acrylic tape for mounting it. I'm pleased with the result

Ford F250 lockpick issue with backup camera

Has anybody had an issue with installing the Ford Lockpick and the factory backup camera being disabled?

I purchased a brand new lock pick from Coastal Tech for my Ford F250 (2012) and now my factory backup camera does not work. Also, I installed a front camera and it doesn't work either. When I put the truck in reverse, the screen doesn't even change. All the other functions seem to work ok (DVD in motion, NAV in motion) just my camera went on the "fritz."

I have an e-mail in to Coastal Tech, but just wondering if this is an easy issue....doesn't seem to be, though.

thanks for your help....

Yes, I did, but admittedly, my onscreen setup was not exactly like it showed in the directions...there was no "one minuted delay" and the radio did not reset. It was not a smooth first setup by any means and now when I try to restore defaults....nope!!

My initial install was pretty much plugnplay. It did not give me any options but everything that was supposed to work did work the first go round. Did you buy it from Coastaltech or from a vendor?

Well, never mind I reread your post but can't delete this one

No problem....I talked to Carlos from Coastal Tech today and I screwed up the install. One thing he told me I shouldn't have done is tried to restore defaults and remove the lock pick. I missed the 6 pin video connector. However, I am going to send him back the lockpick and he is going to reprogram it for me. I must say, those guys from lockpick were extremely courteous and helpful....I'll let you know how it turns out.

LockPick

I am sorry guys this lockpick thing is new to me .. can someone explain to me what the lockpick system is about? Is it just being able to use the rear camera and add another?

It lets you watch a DVD on the front screen, lets you input information in the NAV while driving, add another camera, watch the front or rear camera while driving

I'm very intrigued with the lock pick. Maybe you all can answer some questions:
Is this a simple plug and play harness or will there be wireing cut?
Is it 100% reversible if I so opt?
Is it advisable to wait for 3/36 warranty to expire before purchasing?

I know the last one is subjective but we have a brand new 2013 and going on a 2,400 mile round trip drive in a couple of weeks and would like access to the navigation, DVD, and camera in motion.

It is completely plug and play. No wires to cut or splice. It can be easily removed just by unplugging and replugging the original plugs. I put mine in my 12 King Ranch when it had slightly over 6000 miles. It won't affect the warranty. It works as advertised, I just wish the timer for the nav input was longer than a minute, but it can be done.
