If you can't find valvoline than use pennzoil or quaker state or any other name-brand oil, they're all good.
The only real benefit to fully synthetic oil is the long-term wear protection on a new or like new engine. If an engine gets full synthetic it's whole life and is maintained properly you can expect significantly longer life (which is why it's only worth it if you plan to keep the truck forever). If you have an engine that already has over 100k on it and it has not had synthetic oil then there will likely be no significant benefit. Now if you have a low mileage truck (or proof that the engine has low miles) and you have no intention of ever selling it then defiantly run full synthetic.
Of course it's been six and a half years since I worked in a lube shop and was expected to know this stuff so it's entirely possible there has been new developments in engine oil that aren't marketing scams, but that's how it was back when I was doing oil changes.
