HELP truck wont start

Hello all I have a 1987 ford f250 and that was being driven down the road one day and The dash lights dimmed out and then the truck died. After the truck would not start. So the battery was changed and it was not the issue then the alt and that was not the issue... I was thinking ignition switch but am not sure any advice or help would be most appreciated. Also truck trys to start just wont kick over battery starter and everything is working as far as that goes so any help at all would be useful...

Welcome to the site.

Battery cables bad?

With lights going dim and truck stalling, sounds like bad alternator and then the battery going dead. Since both are good, then I'd start to investigate wiring issues.

Are you getting a good spark?
1) Pull an ignition wire and test using a spark tester or a spark plug with a ground clamp.
2) If no spark try the wire from the coil to the distributer.
3) If no spark check that 12v is getting to positive side of the coil and that the negative side is switching on/off as the engine is cranked.

Ok, engine turns over, but wont fire. Check 12v to the coil, like mentioned. Could be bad ignition module on distributor if coil is getting 12v.
