I did read your thread in the mean time and saw how you ran into a problem here. I'm guessing you didn't realize at the time that the motor mounts from the 4BT step van were the critical piece.

So it sounds like in a ideal world your best bet would be to source your 4BT donor from such a vehicle, if not the entire vehicle itself, yes? So you're saying Ford used an adapter plate themselves rather than cast a 4BT-specific bell? I'm guessing they didn't sell a lot of these.

I had the correct mounts attached to the 4bt. There are 2 different styles of the frame stands used in F150 pickups. I had the wrong style.

Definetly makes sense to buy a 4bt powered step van. I also reused the hydroboost, intercooler, wires, air filter/intake.....etc. The adapter plate, and flywheel were cummins parts, and yes they are becoming hard to find. You can purchase a new fly wheel and plate but they are spendy.

I have a 96 eddie bauer that had a 5.0 and a 5 speed manual in it. I am able to get a 4BT agricultural cummins to drop in her and am curious about electronics. Will I be able to keep parts of my old computer? Or would it be easier to run my own gauges and completely get rid of them?

Is that a stationary engine? if so it will have the wrong injection pump for an on road application.

leave your computer alone, you will get an SES light.....but no big deal.

Your gauges will work fine......speed signal comes from the rear end......temp and oil pressure can be wired from the 4bt to your stock gauges. for tach you can use an alternator with rpm output signal.

You will need quite a bit of parts. like a belhousing adapter.

I suggest going to 4bt swaps and look around

I would suggest getting a whole drop in setup from a Ford bread fan. Comes with the belhousing adapter allowing you to use any ford manual transmission that bolts up ( Windsor I think) Use the transmission you want, sell the one on the 4bt. Wanted to do this for a while since my 4.9 is hurting. I can get a 4bt/4 speed right know if I had 2 grand.
