pretty much the same as any other F150, just doesn't have as many bells and whistles. I think they are one of the better values in Ford's lineup. The STX gives you the FX4 look without the price. Just curious, what are they asking for the used one? Around me new ones are bringing around $25-$26k.

STX package would be my pick out of all of them.
best looking package short of the FX4, and it comes with all the stuff you do want and none of the crap you don't need. carpet is and upcharged option which is nice, as opposed to the XLT where carpet is standard but vinyal is a no cost option (should be a credit)
they just wont make it in a crew cab for some reason.

I believe when they brought out the STX package back in the late 90's it was aimed toward the younger generation, which is why it has the "sportier" or rugged look of the FX4, but brings the price down to a manageable level.

I'd check your local market before buying that truck at 25k.
around here 26,995 gets you a brand new STX with appearance and towing package, 5.0, 4x4 Supercab.
your market may be different so check in to that for sure, but around here, for the extra 2grand, i'd look at the new ones first.

I have a 2011 STX F150 and I can't figure out what the Black Snap on/off Boxes are for on the lower front bumper. I will probable have to go to the Dealer to find out -unless one of you know?
One would think that it would be for Fog/Driving Lights, but the bumper underneath the boxes don't appear to be recessed enough to accommodate Light mounting. I have driven nothing but Ford 4X4s for almost 20 years and traded in a 2001 XLT. Anyone who NEEDS 4X4, knows that in very foggy conditions the 4X4 height of the Head lights will blind you from the road! I have been out of the road and had to stop when I heard Gravel grinding under my tires! I remember once, I waited for some time before another vehicle came alone. It was a car! I pulled out and fell in close behind, and about have the way off the mountain road, the fog lifted. If the car had driven off the mountain-I would have gone too!
I am disabled seriously and don't want to be in that situation again!
Does anyone know if the Boxes are for MUCH NEEDED Fog/Driving Lights? It would be a perfect place for them. But then the question comes about the interior switch. It doesn't have a pull-out switch!
Any help would be appreciated! I can't get any After Market Dealer to understand what I want and it's so far and troublesome to go to the Ford Dealer, who will laugh and say "You should have bought a XLT like I told you!"

If you are in need of some good off road/fog lights check out these guys Rigid Industries. Made in USA, they should have something you can use. I bought some of the SR-M diffused lights for additional reverse light at night and they work great. They came with a nice harness, all plug-in connections, and a nice lighted rocker switch for each light. I couldn't use the switches as I tied them right into my reverse light wiring.
As far as the black plastic boxes in the bumper I have never had mine off so I don't know what it looks like behind them. I think they are mostly for appearance? Rigid makes different size lights so maybe you can find what you are looking for. And did I mention they are made in the USA??
Heres a link from the "sticky" threads so you can see how well they work. Keep in mind these are driving lights we installed not fog lights https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...se-lights.html

Hey! Thanks for the shout back! I would appear that as many of the 2011 STXs on the road, someone would know what the Black Boxes are for. They just pop off and there is hardly any recess for lights, but hole are there for something! I can't think that they are decorative, but what do I know. This is the first time I haven't bought an XLT, and that is the perfect spot of Fog/Driving lights to be mounted because it is a low-close to the road spot that would show you the way in these mountains I live in here in Southwest VA. My wife has to drive to the County seat as she works as a dispatcher for local police, fire, and rescue. We live in a lower section called Powell Valley, and the drive up the Mountain and then some very dangerous four lane. The fog gets so bad, that I am going to have to put some lights on it somewhere. I have been-LOST-almost home, and have to stop when gravel start crunching warning me I am out of the road. She drive an Escape and we have been lucky and had no bad snows or she would have to drive my Pickup for ground clearance. I will ask the Dealer next time I am there and post something back to you.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
