An expert is a good thing, as long as they know what they're talking about. Some of Rick's gun "experts" have no clue.

Recently, Rick bought an 1886 Winchester 45-90, expert he called in said the barrel had been cut. Rick buys it anyway for over 3 grand.

The barrel was not cut. Standard barrel length was 26" but barrel lenghts from 15" thru 36" were available. So, this Winny had a shorter than standard barrel

Anyone that knows Winchesters (expert had no clue) can tell if the barrel was cut by how the magazine tube retainer is dovetailed to the barrel, how far it is from the muzzle, whether the muzzle is crowned (cut) or flat (original).

Wood was sanded beyond belief, expert failed to point that out. If the barrel had been cut, Winny would have no collector value.

Rick, chisling the price, points out to the seller that the receiver blue was worn off. What receiver blue? All '86 receivers were color cased. Since most were carried by the receiver, it's rare to find one with any color cased finish remaining.

A year or so ago, Rick calls in an expert on a nickeled Colt SAA he was looking at. Expert had no clue, said the loading gate was replaced because the serial number didn't match.

This is not a serial number, because the Colt was not sold to the US Gov't. It's a civilian model, so it has an assembly number on the loading gate, the same number is stamped on the trigger guard.

Expert failed to notice the Colt was polished and re-nickeled, screw holes wallowed out. Rick bought it, hasn't sold it yet.

None of these so-called experts have pointed out that factory letters on how these guns were originally configured are available from both Colt in Hartford CT & Winchester (Winchester Firearms Museum-Cody WY).

btw: Counting Cars car hauler is an "Advanced Design" (1947/53) Chevrolet COE (1954 has a different grille) / 1954 F100 was chasing a 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Count offered the owner 15 grand...IMO, way too much money.

Well boys and girls, I have watched most of those programs but I must say my all time favorite would be "Pass Time", especially when the B/B Chev powered camero got blown away by the B/B FORD powered camero!

I would like to see a show with guys like us building cars or trucks in garages like ours. So many of these guys have a huge shop with all the high-dollar equipment that makes things a lot easier than they are for the average guy. This past weekend somebody had a pneumatic valve spring compressor.... How many of us are going to spend the $$ for something like that? Most of us probably don't even have a lift to use when working on our vehicles, and they REALLY make things a lot easier sometimes. Also, they seem to have an unlimited budget when it comes to parts and add-ons, show us how to do it hot-rod style, with ingenuity, not by just throwing money at a project...

How would a show like that work, all that fancy equipment you see on those shows is furnished by the sponsors so the people unlike you and I can spend their money on that fancy equipment. Thats why we, unlike those guys with all the money that can afford all that bling come here and talk to guys like you and me.

Tiredood, I'm with you, most of the fancy cars and trucks owners don't have a clue about what was used or how to use it, they only write a check. I too wish they had a show that would highlight the owner built rides and how he went about making the parts work that he had on hand. There is a hole lot of the guys on here that would surpass most of the (so called builders on TV) shows. Use what you got and build a ride that is safe, drivable, could pass the 23 step NSRA inspection and looks beautiful doing it on a budget they can afford, not having new engines and trans given to them etc., you know guys like the ones on FTE that have brains enough to know that half of the crap they do on the car shows is just that,CRAP. I'm done now, go back to your regulor channel, Garry

Scripted, scripted, scripted. I usually find myself asking why it is again that I am paying a cable bill.

Same thoughts here, but that's just really funny to see in writing.

Fast and Loud is as bad as West Coast Customs and the one at the desert junkyard. They slap lipstick and a fake fur coat on a pig and expect super model top dollar for it. The A sedan that F&L recently built, they painted right over the surface rust, and on another one they painted the chassis with rattle cans without any primer!
I cry over the cars American Pickers pass over for a totally trashed bicycle frame, sign or motorcycle part. The other day there was a 32 Ford front end peeking out from under a stack of trash. I'd love to follow behind them and pick over their leavings. If anyone actually believes those "reality" shows aren't staged, I have a bridge to sell them.

The desert junkyard DVAP as it's called has gotten their heads so celebrity like puffed up that they think their junkyard parts are now worth a fortune. It used to be a good pick & pull for us local Phoenix builders.
My main complaint with all the reality car shows is the producers find it necessary to teach all the builders to talk in a trained moronic up-talking cadence. What part of the english speaking car guy, or gal, world does this style come from. Just say "no" to stupid people press mute. By the way, where is that goof-ball Dwayne these days since American Hot Rod went out of production? Gotta go, looks like another show is starting.

I watched a rerun of an earlier Pawn Stars recently. Guy walks into the shop with a totally trashed Coke machine. After haggling over the price Rick buys it and takes it to Rick Dale's Restoration shop to have it restored. Of course when he comes back for it, it looks brand new. The kicker was the guy who first brought the trashed machine into the pawn shop was a guy who has now become quite well known on the History channel: Rick Dale's BROTHER! LOL!

My brother lives part time in LV, he has gone to Gold and Silver Pawn to see what it's all about. The store exists, but Rick, Corey, Chumley, and the Old man are never there except when filming, and the shop is closed to the public on those days. Rick, Corey and Chum were on an episode of Top Gun not too long ago. Chumley dropped the village idiot act while being interviewed and revealed his daily drivers were a top of the line Range Rover and a Bentley! Rick has one of the 911 Carrera GTS limited edition Porsche's (same as Bill Gates and Tuttle Sr.) and also a Bentley. None of the three could drive their way out of a paper bag on the road course tho.
