driveline angles

hey guys... i need some advice. i have driveline vibrations and i suspected it is the pinion angle so i went ahead to take some measurements. my transmission is pointing down 3 degrees angle and my pinion is 7 degrees up. do i go ahead to install an 8 degree to bring the pinion down to one degree so that is under acceleration to bring my pinion angle to ideal 3 degrees angle. then zero my drive shaft out since it has a two piece drive shaft making it a one piece drive shaft in all respects . what do you all think? also i have spent 5 hours researching this i hope i am correct if not help me out i want the shudder to go away it is a drive line shudder nothing else believe me.

I think you'll need to shim your carrier bearing down to get the angles right, not just changing the rear.

8* seems like a lot to have to change just for a 4 inch lift, but if that is what it takes and your carrier is dropped right, I guess that is what needs to be done. I'm not that familiar with lifts so I may be off in my thinking.

my lift is a bit of an oddball i started out with a rough country lift kit with blocks for the rear i wasnt happy with stacked blocks so i looked for rear springs and found on cl a set of pro comp 4 inch lift springs for the rear for 2002 f350 for 100 bucks brand new never been used i had to mod a few things like drill out shackles and hangers as for the sd springs have larger bolts not by much tho as a result i have been battling this issue for a while

I'll let someone else chime in later, but I think you are on the right track in your thinking.

I'd say turn that pinion down, make sure the carrier bearing is dropped enough, and drive it to see. It's gotta be better than the situation you are in now.

What are you going to use for a shim it to turn it 8*?

I would think the carrier should be in line with the tranny output (or very close to it) and the pinion would be just under whatever the carrier is set at. Maybe a degree or two. I wouldn't think these springs would have much wrap so probably the closer the better. My experience with driveline angles is limited to Jeeps so this may not apply, just my two cents......

actually you do make sense but that will result in my driveshaft angle being a lil too high if you get my drift
