So in the last week diesel in big bear has gone up 30 or more cents.... Anyone else notice an increase? Anyone know why?

Word is that it's because of the fire at Chevron's Richmond refinery back on August 6th:

Thats just an excuse. Reports of fuel reserves show that despite the fire, both national average and west coast region fuel stock went up compared to the week before. This would normally translate to a decrease in fuel price. But the oil companies had an excuse so they rolled with it.

Remember when someone got blamed for high fuel prices because he was an "oil man"?

Or am I getting "too close"? Delete if I am.

Prices are almost double what it was back them.

You must be a "youngin"!

I remember when it was 19.9 cents a gallon, and you might get trading stamps or a free glass tumbler (or something else) with a fill-up.

There were a lot more stations and brands back then, and competition was greater, keeping profit margins less-than-obscene.

For a while ARCO or Shell, can't remember which offered Noah's Arc and pairs of each of the animals. We had a nice collection at one time. As I recall, those tumblers were glass.
