lighted tow mirrors don't blink
I just swapped out my heated, lighted flag mirrors for OEM take off heated, lighted tow mirrors. I used the Ford adapter pigtail so it was a plug and play installation. The mirrors adjust but the turn signals don't work. Anybody have any ideas? The flag mirrors worked fine. I can't tell if the defrost works or not with either mirror.

You must have had a late '01 model. They changed Feb 19, 2001 according to the instruction sheet. My door had two plugs, both round. One has the mirror control, the other turn signal and heat. This pigtail adapted the two round to the mirror square. It was part numbers 1C3Z-14A411-AA AND 1C3Z-14A411-BA. Did your '01 have turn signals and defrost before you swapped?

Alrighty, now. I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to run your own wires for the marker lights and turn signals. The reason I say this is because Ford didn't just come out with the marker/turn signal tow mirrors right off the bat. It took a couple years, and in those couple years they weren't thinking of an adapter plug for us guys wanting to up grade our mirrors to power/heated/marker/turn. The power works and the heat probably works but they just weren't planning for the lights. You can check the heat by just touching the mirror, after a couple seconds you will be able to feel the temp. start to rise. Hope this helps.

My Excursion had heated turn signal flag mirrors on it originally. From what the instructions looked like, the Excursion was the only vehicle to have the two round plugs. My truck didn't have the running lights originally and I didn't expect them to work. But I did expect the turn signal to work since my truck had turn signal mirrors on it already. The adapter was made by Ford to service older trucks so they didn't have to keep making the older mirrors.
I've seen on this board somewhere when I was searching for doing this swap where the guy used the same part numbers for his swap. That's where I got the part numbers to order mine from. Most of the swap threads I saw were from non-lighted mirrors to lighted and new wires had to be run.

That's them. That sucks. It was my understanding that those pigtails were plug and play. If I had known that I was going to have to splice wires I would have saved the $50 on them. Well obviously the truck has the wiring for turn signals so I'm assuming all I have to do is add a wire into the pigtail then?
