I tow at about 65 mph. Occasionally may get to 70 (as that is speed limit) while passing. I stay about 65 as ALL trailer rated tires are speed rated at 65 and continual towing above that number you are asking for trouble.

I am happy with the 8 mpg as I dont pull the trailer a big percentage of the time. I did not feel the costs (up front, daily, and maint.) of a diesel would pay off for me.

If you are towing at high elevations and often. Diesel will be your best bet. Others like me that tow big trailers a small percent and at lower elevations can really enjoy the ecoboost and its unreal power.
.

How well does your ecoboost tow up the steep grades like 5-7%? How fast can you tow on those type hills?

[quote=scottman70;12229311]Test drove and ecoboost yesterday as well as an F250 gasser and diesel. The ecoboost was imho the most impressive of them all! The 6.2 is a total joke of a gas engine!!! In the f250 it was a total gutless slug! I am moving forward for an ecoboost most likely!! That said.......quote]

I too test drove a f250 with the 6.2L...didn' think it was a slug but the way the truck is tuned just kind of had me baffled...step on it and wait kind of thing. The 3.73 rear end in the truck I tried just seemed to make the truck feel really heavy on a 7% grade from a stopping start. After my test drive I really think the 4.30 rear end would be better suited in the superduty with the 6.2's especially for big RV's as you have. However, I don't believe empty highway mileage would be better than 14 mpg from reading the 6.2 L forum section.
With the Ecoboost's flat torque curve hitting peak at 1700 rpm through 4000 rpm, it does resemble a diesel in a truck that will weigh a ton less than a superduty.

I'm not pulling 9-10,000lbs but i am pulling a 33' trailer with a GVW of 8200lbs. It tows like nothing i have driven before! On the steepest grades here in the Northeast like the White Mountains in New Hampshire and the Green Mountains in Vermont with 5-7% grades. I had the cruise set between 60-65mph it never saw over 2700rpms in 4th gear. On the flat roads it will cruise along at 1600rpm's in 6th all day long. I have the 3.73 gears that came with the max tow pkg. I couldn't be happier with the way this truck performs!
